Tagging People in Posts on Facebook

Can you tag people on your business page?

Today I received the following question from a client:

“When I use Facebook, I can type a friends name into a post and it automatically tags them in the post on my wall, their wall or even on another business page. On our own company Facebook page, if I type someones name it doesn’t work. Am I doing something wrong?”

Social Media Help – Facebook Questions Answered

When you are in the admin role of a Facebook page, you can tag another persons page, but you can’t tag a person from that page, even if they have “liked” your page. However, a person can tag another person on a page. So, what’s the work-around to tagging people on your own company page?

Log in to your companies Facebook page. At the very top of the page, look for the light blue line under the Facebook logo at the top left. Make a change here to remedy the tagging issue:

You are posting, commenting, and liking as “WHATEVER THE NAME OF THE PAGE IS” — Change to “YOUR NAME WILL BE HERE”

If you change the “you are commenting on” to yourself, you can tag your friends. You should be good to go from there!
